Also called: PDF password remover, unlock PDF.

If you know the password, save an unlocked copy so you do not have to type it every time. This does not break passwords you do not know.

Remove the password from your PDF

Many PDFs arrive locked with a password: bank statements, credit card bills, salary slips, insurance papers, income tax forms and e-Aadhaar. Typing the password every time is tiring, and many websites cannot accept a locked PDF for upload. This tool opens your locked PDF with its password and saves a copy that opens without one.

You need the password

This tool does not guess or break passwords. You must know the password that opens the file. It only works for files you own or are allowed to open, such as statements sent to you by your bank.

Common bank passwords

Banks and companies usually tell you the password format in the email or SMS that came with the file. Common patterns are the first letters of your name with your date of birth, the last digits of your account or card number, or your customer ID. Check that message for the exact rule, and type capital and small letters exactly as told.

What stays the same

Text, links, forms and pictures are kept exactly as they were. The unlocked copy looks the same as the original; only the password is removed, so the file can be merged, compressed, signed or uploaded easily.

e-Aadhaar

For an e-Aadhaar PDF, the dedicated e-Aadhaar tool builds the password for you from your name and birth year. Note that unlocking removes the validity of the UIDAI digital signature, so keep the original file for official checks.

Keep it safe

An unlocked file can be opened by anyone who gets it. Store it on your own device, and lock it again with the password tool before sending it by email.

Common uses

Upload a bank statement to a loan or visa website, merge several months of statements into one file, compress a locked salary slip, or print a credit card bill without typing the password each time.

If the password does not work

Check that Caps Lock is off, that there are no spaces before or after, and that the date is typed in the format the sender asked for, such as DDMMYYYY or DDMM. Some banks use small letters for the name part. Try the password in your PDF reader too; if it fails there as well, ask the sender for the correct format.

After unlocking

Now you can merge the statement with other files, compress it for an upload limit, or sign it with the fill and sign tool. All of these need an unlocked file.

Private by design

Your file is processed inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For private documents such as ID cards, this matters more than anything else.
