Turn photos of paper into a clean scan

This tool turns photos of documents into a PDF that looks like it came from a real scanner. It removes the grey shadows and uneven light of a phone photo, makes the paper white and the writing dark, and puts every page into one PDF. It is ideal for marksheets, receipts, handwritten notes, forms and letters when there is no scanner nearby.

Use your camera or saved photos

On a phone you can take the photos straight from the camera, page after page, or choose photos you already took. Hold the phone straight above the paper, fill the screen with the page, and use daylight from a window instead of the flash to avoid glare.

Choose the look

Clean (shadows removed) keeps colours but whitens the paper and removes shadows; it suits most documents with stamps or colour. Black and white text gives the sharpest text and the smallest file, best for typed or handwritten pages. Grey keeps soft shading, and Original colour keeps the photo almost as it was. Pick the page size, such as A4, for printing.

Keep the file small

Cleaned scans are usually much smaller than the original photos, especially in black and white. If a form still needs a smaller file, open the PDF in the compressor and type the KB limit. To make the text searchable or copyable, run the Read scanned PDF text tool afterwards.

Tips for the best scan

Place the paper on a dark table so its edges are clear, keep the phone steady, and make sure every corner of the page is in the photo. Take one photo per page and check that the text is in focus before moving on.

Common uses

Students scan marksheets, certificates and handwritten assignments. Shopkeepers scan bills and delivery receipts for records. Families scan property papers, ration cards and medical bills to keep a digital copy. Job seekers scan documents for online applications when there is no scanner at home.

Page order and size

Pages appear in the order you add them, so photograph them in order. The page size you choose decides the shape of each PDF page, and the photo is fitted inside it. A4 is the usual choice in India. Keep the original photos until you have checked the PDF.

Why not just send the photos?

Offices and websites usually ask for one PDF, not many photos. A single cleaned PDF is easier to open, print and keep, the pages stay in order, and the file is often far smaller than the original camera photos.

Private by design

Your PDF is processed inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
