This tool makes small photos two or four times bigger using an AI model called Real-ESRGAN. Ordinary resizing only stretches pixels, which makes a small photo look blocky and soft. The AI model instead redraws edges and textures, so the larger photo looks much cleaner. It is useful for old photos, small pictures saved from chats, logos, and product photos that are too small to print.

2× or 4×

2× doubles the width and height, so a 600×800 photo becomes 1200×1600. 4× makes it four times wider and taller, so the same photo becomes 2400×3200. Use 4× for very small pictures and 2× when the photo is already medium-sized.

Size limits

Because all the work happens on your own device, there are limits that keep phones from running out of memory. For 4×, the photo must be under 1 megapixel, for example 1000×1000. For 2×, it must be under 1.5 megapixels. If your photo is bigger, it is usually large enough already; or make it smaller with the resize tool first.

The first run

The first time you use this tool, a 4.9 MB AI model is downloaded from PDFPixo once and kept by your browser. Enlarging takes time because the model works through the whole picture: a few seconds on a computer and up to a few minutes on a phone. Keep the page open until it finishes.

What to expect

The AI makes photos cleaner and sharper, but it can smooth very fine textures such as hair or grass, and it cannot bring back writing that is unreadable in the original. Faces in very tiny photos may look slightly painted. Always check the result before printing or official use.

Tips
