Hide part of an image
Black out ID numbers or private details on a photo or scan.
Cover private details before you share a photo. For numbers and text, the black box is the safest choice.
Hide private details on a photo
This tool covers parts of a photo or screenshot so they cannot be read. Use it to hide the first eight digits of an Aadhaar number, a bank account or card number, a phone number, an address, a QR code, or a face before you share a picture of a document, a bill or a chat.
Three ways to hide
Black box covers the area with solid black and is the safest choice for numbers and text. Blur makes the area soft and unreadable, and Pixelate turns it into large squares; both look gentler for faces and backgrounds, but they can sometimes be reversed or guessed for text. For ID numbers, always use the black box.
Selecting areas
Drag on the photo to draw a box over each detail you want to hide. You can draw several boxes on the same photo; the number of selected areas is shown, and you can clear them and start again. Make each box slightly larger than the text so no edge of a letter stays visible.
Permanently hidden
The covered areas become part of the new picture. The hidden details are not stored anywhere in the file, so they cannot be uncovered later. The result is saved as a PNG to keep the edges sharp. Keep your original photo safely on your own device.
Masked Aadhaar
UIDAI allows a masked Aadhaar in which only the last four digits are visible. You can make the same kind of copy from a photo of your card by hiding the first eight digits with a black box. For an Aadhaar PDF, use the hide part of PDF tool.
After hiding
Add a watermark that states the purpose of the copy, such as "Only for KYC with XYZ Bank", with the photo watermark tool. Then check the result once by zooming in before sharing.
Common uses
Share an ID card photo for a SIM or hotel check-in, post a bill without showing your account number, send a chat screenshot without phone numbers, or share a document while hiding a signature or photo.
What to hide on common IDs
On an Aadhaar card, hide the first eight digits of the number. On a bank passbook or cheque, hide all but the last four digits of the account number. On a PAN card or any other ID, hide every detail the receiver has not asked for. Hide signatures when the receiver does not need them.
Private by design
Your file is processed inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. For private documents such as ID cards, this matters more than anything else.
